  Group-led business improvement projects underway

Development of a Group-wide 'data-warehouse'

This information system will enable Elementis sales people, throughout the world, to access and interrogate transaction level sales data using web based browser software.

targeted benefits: better understanding of customer needs, product/market trends and greater sharing of customer information within and across businesses

Introduction of improved supply chain management techniques utilising sophisticated forecasting and demand planning software

Implemented in Elementis Specialties and Linatex to date, this project links to a new Group-wide procurement programme designed to further reduce costs.

targeted benefits: improved customer service through higher level of on-time, in full deliveries, improved manufacturing efficiencies and lower inventories

Introduction of proven stable manufacturing methodology

Stable manufacturing is a statistically based process that eliminates low production days by determining root causes and taking corrective action. This type of continuous improvement process, used by other world-class companies, will enable Elementis to achieve new levels of operational excellence. It is the first stage of implementing Six Sigma projects to improve business performance, linked to measurable financial results.

Stable manufacturing is led, at Group level, by the recently appointed Vice President of Global Manufacturing. Projects are now underway at every major site across the Group, involving hundreds of people at all levels of the business.

targeted benefits: increased manufacturing capacity, improved customer service, lower costs and reduced inventories
