Job Summary

The Technical/Senior Scientist supports global business growth of Architectural Coatings through managing and implementing technical service activities including new business opportunity (NBO) of global sales teams. This role is primarily responsible for screening customer formulations to promote Elementis products to replace competitive products as well as support the commercial team to generate data for new product launches and customer training. Supports product qualifications, generating data to validate customer complaints, and screen raw materials as needed. Support costumers developing test to achieve performance goals both in rheological and applications proprieties. The candidate should have a background working with defoamers, dispersants, wetting agents and rheology, paint formulations and application methods.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • You will be working with the lab manager and sales team to design, develop, test, and introduce new and innovative coating solutions.
  • You will support the commercial team by actively generating data to update product portfolio and new business opportunities NBOs through focusing on technical service activities of global key account management (GKAM) and key customers.
  • You will be responsible for working with the commercial team to implement training for sales/technical sales, key customers and distributors.
  • You will be responsible for working with R&D, manufacturing and procurement to provide evaluation support for pilot scale up, process improvement, non-qualified products, customer complaints and new raw materials.
  • You will be responsible for coaching and guiding team members to achieve department’s goal.
  • You will be responsible supporting the management of projects using Project Management tools (Stage Gate process, timelines, financials, etc.) to plan, track, and communicate activities.

Decision making

You would have the authority to make discissions related to experimental methodologies and formulation approaches.

You would also recommend training content, testing approaches and methodologies. Higher level approval required for non-budgetary resourcing and expenditures.

What will it take

Position Requirements

Education: Bachelor's in chemistry or other sciences. Higher degree preferred not required. Experience: 5+ years of practical experience of architectural coating formulation, testing and customer collaboration/customer service. IT Skills: Microsoft word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, Teams Language Skills: Verbal and written fluency in English. Working arrangements:  Onsite 5 days a week Traveling required: 10% max required.
