Job Summary
The Technical Service Senior Chemist will be responsible for hands on lab work and completion of product application and paint testing. A key focus of this position will be developing a solvent and waterbased coatings application expertise of the Elementis industrial organoclay products from fellow chemists and through hands-on experience, and then transforming this knowledge into a database for archival purposes. Other lab work will also cover additional Elementis products. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safe working environment in the lab.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Hands-on lab work in the preparation and testing of solvent and waterborne formulations, and gels based on existing starting formulas.
- Evaluate the quality and application performance of new product candidates as part of the new product development process.
- Investigate troublesome production lots for quality and performance of existing products.
- Participate as needed in developing performance data of products to assist sales and marketing efforts.
- Modernize older test formulas with more current raw materials.
- Maintaining a record of all lab project work (lab notebook, compile MS Word completion project reports summarizing lab results, monthly reports).
- Maintaining a safe working environment in the lab and attending safety training sessions.
- Running assigned projects and communicating results to the supervisor.
- Maintaining lab equipment, replace consumables and chemicals. As needed, monitor test methods, specifications, and processes to ensure compliance and applicability.
- Supporting the site activities including shipping of hazardous goods training to be provided
- Ensure that project status and needs are communicated with the supervisor.
