Job Summary

The Shift Supervisor leads and manages operations for the assigned shift to meet customer requirements. Integral to the position is the safe, efficient operation of the facility while providing technical leadership for operating personnel assigned to his/her team.

Job Description

The Shift Supervisor leads and manages operations across all departments for assigned shift to meet customer requirements.

This is a rotating shift position.  Must be able to work rotating shifts which consists of Days (6am-2pm), Evenings (2pm-6pm) and Nights(10pm-6am) on a rotating basis.  This includes working weekends & Holidays when necessary.

Monitor daily build schedule and analyze efficiency rates and downtime coordinating all personnel resources available on a shift to ensure customer requirements are being met

Drive escalation effort with departments if resources not on-site are required to meet customer requirements

Ensure manufacturing operations are running effectively in the areas of safety, quality, efficiency/productivity, cost, and team member morale

Provide direction and motivation to supervisors focusing on safety, quality, efficiency, cost, and morale.

Conduct daily internal audits to ensure procedures for safety, quality, equipment, and training are being followed and all aspects of manufacturing are effective.

Ensure short and long term corrective actions are being executed according to plan.

Support management of annual plan, budget, and Key Performance Indicators (KPI), operating efficiency, and cost control.

Review and track manufacturing Key Performance Indicators (KPI) including leading problem solving for negative trends or goals not met.

Assist with generation and report out of weekly/monthly reports with targets

Participates in strategic discussions and planning sessions to help formulate cost reduction, product improvement, and problem solving activities, and supports presentation of operational performance daily/weekly/monthly.
 

What will it take

Physical Requirements

Capable of successfully passing a medical evaluation for respirator clearance and fitting, and adept at wearing a respirator during physically demanding tasks. Able to fulfill the criteria outlined in the hearing conservation program. Proficient in standing and walking for extended durations, as well as climbing. Regularly engages in kneeling, squatting, bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching overhead with repetitive motions. Capable of lifting and/or carrying loads up to 55 pounds unassisted, with a maximum limit of 100 pounds. Demonstrates the ability to wear necessary personal protective equipment as mandated.

Position Requirements

Education: Associate degree or higher in chemical engineering, processing, technology, or related field.

Experience: 5 years’ supervisory experience in a specialty chemical plant or similar

IT Skills: Proficient user of computer software including Microsoft Suite, ERP software, and DCS systems.

Labor Relations:  Experience managing in a Union environment.

Traveling required: 0% of travel required.
